Philippe Dunsky has worked in sustainable energy since 1991, primarily in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy. Throughout his career, Philippe has provided analytical support and strategic counsel to a broad array of North American clients, including governments, utilities, private firms and non-profit organizations. He has notably been responsible for the design of large-scale electric, gas and multi-fuel energy efficiency and renewable energy plans and programs; has reviewed and assessed best practices; and has developed leading sustainable energy strategies and policies. Philippe is also a sought-after public speaker, and author of dozens of publications dealing with solutions to the challenge of sustainable energy.

In addition to his consulting practice, Philippe sits on the boards of several organizations and funds focused on energy and resource sustainability. He has also served a large number of advisory boards and blue ribbon panels, including the Quebec Energy Policy Commission (1995) and the Environmental Laws Review Committee (2005).

Prior to founding his consulting firm, Philippe taught at McGill University’s Faculty of Management, and was previously founding Executive Director of the Helios Centre for Sustainable Energy Strategies. Fully bilingual (English/French), he studied economics with the University of London (U.K.).

Bruno Gobeil has 15 years of experience in the analysis, planning and strategic development of energy efficiency programs, policies and plans, including senior positions at the Canadian Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE) and Hydro-Quebec. Bruno has spent most of his career in mid- and senior-level positions at organizations dedicated exclusively to energy efficiency and climate change policies.

At Hydro-Quebec, Bruno was Head of Planning and Integration at Hydro-Quebec’s Energy Efficiency Division, the second highest position in the 200-person, $250 million/year business unit. He was in charge of a team tasked with developing the utility’s three year energy efficiency plans, key energy savings programs, savings goals and cost-effectiveness targets, overseeing its regulatory filings, achievable potential studies, and prospecting new energy efficiency opportunities.

Prior to joining Hydro-Quebec in 2003, he was notably climate change policies manager at Transport Canada, senior economist for commercial energy efficiency programs at the OEE, senior energy policy advisor at Natural Resources Canada, and alternative transportation fuels analyst at the OEE.

Bruno holds an M.A. in Economics, specialized in energy and natural resources, from Laval University.

Martin Poirier has over 15 years of experience in the energy sector, most notably in the analysis and review of countless energy efficiency programs and plans. His experience spans the full breadth of sectors, including residential, commercial and industrial, and multiple fuel sources, including electricity, natural gas and renewables. Thanks to the breadth of his professional experience, he has a developed a very thorough understanding of the operational delivery framework of energy efficiency programs.

In addition to his work in energy efficiency program design, Mr. Poirier’s experience encompasses related issues such as energy efficiency potential studies, cost-benefit analyses, utility regulation and program evaluation. He has also worked on redesigning rate structures to provide appropriate price signals, net metering and net billing strategies to promote emerging energy technologies, and the assessment of opportunities for renewable energy in isolated communities.

Martin holds a Bachelors degree in Accounting as well as a Masters in Sociology from the University of Quebec in Montreal.

François Boulanger has nearly 20 years of experience in sustainable energy and engineering. He has in-depth knowledge of energy efficiency programs and opportunities, rooted in a diversity of experience including prior work as a program and policy design consultant (focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy), a program manager (notably residential retrofit programs), and a lead engineer (for industrial process simulation).

His diverse expertise spans the residential and industrial sectors, as well as commercial buildings, and includes managing the activities of a residential energy efficiency outreach and energy audit program, energy and energy efficiency policy analysis, as well as industrial process simulation design and implementation. As a lead engineer in process simulation, Mr Boulanger conducted numerous analyses of industrial processes in Canada and internationally.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Kristin Berg recently joined the Dunsky Energy Consulting team. With a background in mechanical engineering, she has worked for more than seven years in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy. She has worked as an energy policy analyst and community energy planning analyst with the Pembina Institute. While at the Institute, she was deeply involved with energy baseline inventories and the technical and economic analysis of wind, solar and biomass technologies for community energy planning purposes. She also assisted on numerous research projects aimed at identifying best practices and effective policies that can help maximize energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy.

In addition to her work as a technical and policy analyst, Kristin possesses extensive practical experience in energy efficiency in the residential sector, including having completed over 500 energy assessments in ecoENERGY and EnerGuide programs.

She also holds a master’s degree in professional communications.

Brent Langille is a new addition to the DEC team filling the role of analyst. Brent's recent work includes data analysis for an appliance early retirement program in Quebec; data analysis for a pilot small scale renewable energy production program in Saskatchewan as well as research into smartgrids, on-bill financing, and non-energy benefits among others.

Brent holds a B.Eng. Mechanical from Dalhousie University and a M.Sc. Mathematics from the University of New Brunswick.

Firas Chaieb has over 20 years of hands-on experience in identifying, analyzing and implementing energy efficiency projects in the commercial and institutional sectors, both in North America and overseas. Firas has developed an expertise in demand side energy management issues and building energy modeling, and a thorough understanding of project technical and economical evaluation. He has also participated in several benchmarking studies and in the design of energy efficiency programs, which has provided him with extensive knowledge of the best practices in this field.

Firas is a Mechanical Engineer and earned an MBA from the Institut d’administration des entreprises, Paris- Sorbonne.
